Censorship of the Arts Narrative: is Mir Husayn Musavi

The man I am reporting about today is Mir Husayn Musavi. Mir Husayn Musavi was born on March 2, 1942 in Khameneh, East Azarbaijan, Iran. During his university life, he was a member of the Islamic association of students. In 1969, Mousavi had married Zahra Rahnavard, a woman who attended the same university and had beliefs similar to himself. Mousavi and his wife played a huge role during the Iranian revolution. On June 12, 2009, Mousavi was a candidate for the election for presidency in Iran. The final voting results showed that Ahmadinejad, an opposing candidate, won by a huge difference. This caused Mousavi and many others Iranian Citizens to arouse suspicion upon the results. They believed that the voting results may have been manipulated and faked. Some citizens concluded that Sadegh Mahsouli a leader messed up election and fakes the votes to keep the Ahmadinejad family name in the throne. Mousavi confirmed this, and called for his group of people to understand the election was unlegitimate. as an after effect, large protests started occuring for the truth of the election. The movement started was called the Green Movement. Green Movement is the protests about rigged Iranian election that many Musavi followers were angry about. The symbol green was Musavi's favorite color because it represented unity and belief for the followers. Today, Mousavi and his followers and other leaders with similar beliefs are coming up with new peaceful assertive ways to spread belief. Also, they have set up a new group, they renamed their new group The Green Path of Hope. Mousavi has chosen to choose the path in which they do not follow the government belief so that is what it was renamed with the word path in his name.

I am...

                                                                       I am...

I am a person who enjoys working with the company of others. As a child, I developed a strong passion for sports. The dynamics of having to play with teammates, made sports a truly challenging experience. This challenge created my love for sports. I really enjoyed how my team all worked cohesively with each other to achieve the one common goal. In high school, I played basketball for my school team. I played as small forward in basketball because I preferred to support my teammates in scoring. Playing sports builds a unique friendship and it allowed me to develop my ability to trust others. I find sports to be one of the best mediums to develop a connection, a brotherhood, with others. What truly compels me to play sports are the means by which we overcome obstacles and challenges as a team; it’s heart-warming to know that you can rely on somebody, just as they would rely on you, there aren’t many connections that other activities like playing a team sport can achieve.

I am also a student who believes that nothing can be achieved by just thinking the world comes easy and everything will be served on a silver platter. I find that my ambitions and expectations far exceed those of my peers. I see that so many people expect things to be handed them to you. The case where it comes to quizzes or midterms where they want you to challenge your knowledge. Some think, ”Hey I can go into this test with no preparation what so ever and expect to have luck on their side and possibly get a good grade.” The gift I have is that I see those people and I am the type with will put a lot of effort even if it means going above and beyond. And in some cases I will try to even make study groups where we can bond and hangout and study also and be productive. This is one of the few special gifts I have developed over the years.

My gift I have is the ability to bring people together. Last year at UCSC, during my stats class, I had a choice to do a presentation with a group of 4 or to work alone.  I really enjoy collaboration projects and assignments. I feel like when I work in groups, overall my work gets done quicker and the process of the work becomes fun. I have the traits of a leader. I enjoy bringing people together and organizing. For example I am in a student organization where some people who join are shy. I have the personality to try to incorporate the conversation to a point where they feel comfortable to speak. We also tend to hold outing with the club where sometimes not everyone will get a notification. As a result, I will try to see who is not there and send them that notification to join, and during that outings I will introduce people to them where they don’t feel a barrier of random strangers and get to know them and as a result they tend to share some of their personality with the group and the true self shines where their true self is a great person. I enjoy this gift the most becomes it brings people together and I enjoy that social factor the most.
